We have been to a city of many tongues. We have flown, we have knocked, we have written it all. And now a foreigner stands at our school gate wall. "I have never been to Japan," she says, "until this fall."

ぼくらは、たくさんの言葉の街に行ったことがある。飛んだことも、ノックしたことも、全部書いたこともある。そして今、校門の壁のところに、一人の外国人が立っている。「日本に来たのは初めてなの」と彼女は言う。「この秋まで、一度も」。

疑問文の ever（今までに）と否定の never（一度も）。Have you ever...? が曲名。

have been to

「〜に行ったことがある」。go の現在完了は have gone ではなく have been to。教科書でも最初に釘を刺される形。

I have never been to Japan until this fall.

already / yet

「すでに」と「まだ」。完了用法の予告。Not yet. の一言でカイの沈黙を描く。I've は I have、haven't は have not、hasn't は has not の短縮形。現在完了はこの後に過去分詞が続く。
