There was a fox. His name was Gon.
He was little, and he was alone.
He was naughty ── he played a trick:
he took an eel and ran.
But then he heard something ──
the man's mother died.

"The eel was for her…"
一匹のきつねがいた。名前はごん。
小さくて、ひとりぼっちだった。
いたずら好きで──悪さをした。
うなぎを取って、逃げたの。
でもそのあと、聞いてしまった──
あの人のお母さんが、死んだって。
ごんは考えた。何度も考えた。
「あのうなぎは、お母さんのためだったんだ……」

Every day, I wrote my blog ── for my brother.
Did he read it? I don't know.
That night, on the mountain, I saw him.
He was walking into the dark ──
he was walking through a door of night.
I said… nothing. My voice was small.
The door closed.
He went. And I was there, on the ground.
毎日、ブログを書いた──兄さんのために。
読んでくれてた？ わからない。
あの夜、山で、兄さんを見た。
兄さんは闇の中へ歩いていった──
夜の扉を、くぐっていった。
わたしは…… 何も言えなかった。声が小さすぎた。
扉は閉じた。それでも──
兄さんは行き、わたしは地面に、立ち尽くしてた。
BRIDGE ── ごんの話（結末）
One day, the man saw something at his door ──
a fox! The naughty fox!
He took his gun. ── Bang.
Then he saw the chestnuts on the ground.
"Gon… was it you?"
Gon nodded, little and still.
The smoke rose from the gun.
── It was too late. The words were too late.
ある日、男は戸口で何かを見た──
きつねだ！ あのいたずらぎつね！
男は銃を取った。──ドン。
そして見た。地面に落ちた、栗の山を。
「ごん…… おまえだったのか」
ごんは、小さくうなずいた。
銃口から、細い煙がのぼった。
──遅かった。言葉は、間に合わなかった。
FINAL CHORUS ── 決意
Every day, he brought chestnuts ── no one knew.
Every day, I write my words ── and now I know:
words at the door are not yet received.
So I go through the door!
Brother ── receive my words!
